We at Mississippi Clayworks are very
excited to announce the addition of unique pottery items from our artist
friends in the Mata Ortiz region of northern Mexico. These hand-made pots
are beautifully crafted using the traditional methods developed by the
people of the Paquimé Pueblos over eight centuries years ago.....read

We are also concerned about the
exploitation of indigenous artisans in various parts of the world.
Therefore, all of our pueblo pottery is purchased directly from the
village by myself or my associates at a fair market price.
In addition, 5% of our Mata Ortiz, Casas Grandes pottery sales will be donated
back to the village to help with the purchase of school supplies, food,
toys and clothing for the children.

Lydia Quezada is Juan Quezada's youngest sister. She is considered
one of the best potters in the Mata Ortiz tradition. Works with both
polychrome and black on black styles.
Lydia lives and works with her husband Rito Talavera in Nuevo Casas
Grandes.
